Pathways has served the Northern Colorado community for over 35 years and has worked with interns throughout this time. Pathways offers an extensive and well-developed internship program. 

We are looking for interns to join our team and help us meet our mission by providing support to patients and families. We offer a rich experience for students who receive additional educational opportunities, supervision by experienced staff and a supportive learning environment. Grief & Loss Counseling Internships:

Overview: Pathways for Grief and Loss accepts master’s level interns throughout the year for both practicum and internship opportunities. Currently we accept students from University of Northern Colorado, Colorado State University, Naropa, Metro State University and Denver University. If your program is not listed please call to explore your options.

Students working at our counseling center provide support to individuals and families due to grief or serious illness. Our program serves family members of hospice patients and community members of all ages. In addition to counseling, students also facilitate support groups and have the opportunity to work in both home, school and facility settings. Our center offers an art studio for art therapy and a children’s room where play therapy and sand tray therapy are utilized. Students receive supervision and support from licensed therapists and group supervision with other multidisciplinary interns within Pathways programs.

MSW ( Masters of Social Work) Hospice Internships

Overview: Students have the opportunity to work in home settings as well as health care facilities and Pathways Care Center at McKee Hospital. Hospice care is provided through an interdisciplinary team and students work with other disciplines to provide psychosocial support to patients and their families at the end of life. Students are accepted for their 2nd year placement and the internships are a two-semester commitment. Licensed clinical social workers with strong experience in hospice work supervise the interns.

BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) Hospice Internships

Overview: The BSW internships are for a one or two-semester commitment with Pathway’s Volunteer Coordinator. Pathways volunteers provide a variety of service within the agency and community including support to patients and families, volunteer training, referral process for assignments, and ongoing support and management. Supervision provided by experienced MSW graduates on Pathway’s staff.

MSW (Masters of Social Work) Pallative Care Internships

Overview: Students work with patients with chronic illnesses and provide emotional support, assistance with advanced care planning, and access to community resources to support goals of care with our Palliative Care program. Licensed clinical social worker with strong experience in palliative and hospice work supervises the intern.

Masters Level Art Therapy Internships

Overview: We offer two-semester internships for Master’s-level art therapy students. Interns work with bereaved adults and children, both individually and in groups, as well as with hospice patients and families. A grief counselor with a Master’s in Art Therapy supervises the program.

Music Therapy Internship

Overview: Students work in senior living communities and home settings as well as the Pathways Care Center at McKee Hospital. Hospice care is provided through an interdisciplinary team and students work with other disciplines to provide music therapy support to patients and their families at the end of life. Some opportunities are available to work with individuals and families experiencing grief or serious illness through our extensive counseling center and children with life-limiting illness program. Student receive supervision and support from master’s level MT-BCs and group supervision with other multidisciplinary interns within Pathways programs.

**In addition to filling out the application at the above link, students should submit the following materials all together:

• One official copy of your complete transcript form from all colleges and universities you have attended (emailed or hard copy).

• Three professional letters of recommendation. One must be from your advisor (emailed or hard copy).

• One recording (electronic or mailed CD) of a song of your choice that demonstrates your vocal and instrumental accompanying skills.

• Optional: Any research papers, studies, or information that would be important for consideration as a potential intern.

Requirement: Preference will be given to Master level candidates or bachelor candidates with extensive clinical experience and proven self-direction.
